Junk Worlds

Junk Worlds transforms everyday street waste into seemingly cosmic landscapes. By photographing collected fragments of debris under a microscope, circular images emerge that resemble planets or distant celestial bodies.

The constraint of the microscopic frame — a circular field of view — reinforces this association and estranges the material from its original context. What initially appears as an abstract universe reveals itself, upon closer inspection, to originate from the immediate urban environment.

The project explores how perception and scale shape our understanding of reality. By recontextualizing what is typically considered worthless or overlooked, Junk Worlds uncovers an unexpected aesthetic and invites reflection on our relationship with waste, consumption, and the world around us.
