Richard Avedon
Richard Avedon was an American photographer known for his powerful and minimalist portraits. His work is characterized by a clear, often white background and a strong focus on the person in front of the camera. Through his direct approach and attention to detail, he captured not only the appearance of his subjects, but also something of their personality and vulnerability.
What draws me to his work is his way of working and how he sometimes puts his models to the test, for example by deliberately making them wait. This creates moments in which the façade falls away and something more genuine becomes visible. In addition, his portraits are technically strong, something I can learn a lot from as a photographer.
