Sandro Botticelli
Sandro Botticelli was an Italian Renaissance painter, known for his symbolic and narrative imagery. In The Birth of Venus, he depicts the goddess Venus emerging from the sea, representing beauty and love. In La Primavera (Spring), various mythological figures appear in a garden, referring to themes of spring, growth, and renewal. Both works are based on classical mythology and contain multiple layers of meaning.
What draws me to these works is the mythology behind the images and how those mythological stories play a role in what we see. The images invite the viewer to look beyond the surface and reflect on what lies beneath. They show me how imagination, symbolism, and visual metaphor shape the way we understand images.
