Sanja Marušić

Sanja Marušić is a Dutch-Croatian artist who works with photography, painting, and collage to create dreamlike and surreal visual worlds. In Figures under the Sun, she combines human figures with colorful, alienating landscapes, where form, color, and composition take on an almost abstract quality. Her work balances between photography and image construction, exploring the relationship between reality and imagination.

What draws me to her work is the way she uses photography to build an entirely self-contained world. The strong use of color, shape, and composition appeals to me aesthetically, while the images simultaneously feel disorienting and blur the boundary between reality and fiction.
